Comprehensive Analysis of Lightning-Induced Faults & SOTF Protection Malfunctions in 220 kV Transmission Lines: Case Study of Chaglla Hydroelectric Plant (in Spanish)

Mr. Álvarez has a degree in Electrical Mechanical Engineering from the National University of the Altiplano in Peru, and completed doctoral studies in Electrical Mechanical Engineering. He has a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of São Paulo (Brazil) and an MBA specializing in Power Plant Management from the Institute of Electrotechnics and Energy of the University of São Paulo (Brazil), and has completed studies in maintenance management in Electrical Companies at ESAN University, Peru. He joined the Staff of Chaglla Hydro Power Plant (EGH) in 2012, during the beginning of the construction of this project as Planning Engineer, then in 2013 as Electromechanical Assembly Supervisor, later in 2016 with the start of operations of Chaglla HPP he assumed as O&M Manager, and since January 2024 he is the Deputy Director of O&M. Affiliated with the College of Engineers of Peru, he has extensive experience in the Peruvian electrical sector, in construction, assembly, commissioning and management of energy assets in power plants, substations and transmission lines.
